Oh yeah! Cheer clinic RULEZ!!!!
Yeah, I had fun today!!! (despite the fact that I was seriously tired due to lack of sleep). The juniors of our squad sure got their awakening today the way us senior members did during our cheer clinic 2 years ago. After reading the newspaper on the regional qualifier competition in Penang a few days ago and finding that E-lektra was victorious (even beating their senior squad, Titans), the pressure came on and everyone's performance rate seemed to drop a little. I'm just glad today cheered us up.
Us morning sessions had to leave class early today at 12.00pm to change and eat lunch. Boy, everyone sure looked united wearing our cheer shirt. Yeah, okay...so we were told to wear black pants but I guess some people just didn't get the message (what's with the white/blue pants people???). Anyway, the afternoon sessions came when their school started, already in the proper attire (lucky them). The bus came at about 1.40pm or so and the journey began (a pretty short one for your information-wanted to sleep!! T_T).
Once there, we met up with a couple of familiar faces-Shirtliff, Dynamitez, Xavier, Adele, Blitzerz, Southern Star...and others whom I unfortunately just can't remember =P -SORRY!!! The clinic started at 3.00pm sharp. We met the judges, some members of CHARM (like I don't already know them =P) and introductions of each squads captains were done. Warm ups and stretches followed and then we were splited up into groups. Everyone started with motions, and moved on to jumps. Then came the stunting (in which the guys really stood out by doing-haven't I mentioned they're FREAKING STRONG!!!). Still, us girls didn't do half bad either. We were pretty good in comparison with last year and on account of Southern Star who were in our group.
Looking around, many of the other teams have no doubt improved a lot. Shirtliff and Dynamitez are as strong as always and Blitzerz were good too. It sure looks to be the most interesting year of competition this time. I guess our Malaysians have finally taken cheerleading in our country to the next level. Also, my wrist didn't really hurt today and I can base again~ All the stunts in our routine went up too and the judges seemed to think both teams (guys & girls) stand a good chance this year. For all we know the signs really are true. The question still remains....
Can you keep up?

everyone's getting excited but I'm....afraid??
Well you better believe I've been pretty busy since the recent school hols ended. Sure school has been boring and hasn't been giving much of a hard time if you ask me but the added amount of cheer practices has. I suppose I should say that a lot of things have happened in the past 2 weeks (I mean a lot alright). Here's the scoop...
It seems like there are going to be about 30 squads competing this year (not much of a difference from last year surprisingly). Many squads have seemed to disappear this time and theres quite a number of newcomers who are obviously hoping to win the prize us VLC's have been known for winning 2 years in a row (by the girls in 2003 & by the guys in 2004)...the 'best newcomer' award (is it an award? =P). However, no chance for us to win that prize ever again since we're no longer newcomers (wonder who'll win it this year...). The scary part about this year's competition is that among all the other squads out there...we (Vulcanz All-girls) just happen to be lucky (yeah rite...) number one to perform. Man...I seriously wasn't expecting to be first and definitely didn't want it but it does have a good side. As for the guys, they're number 11. Heh, triple 1's...seem like a sign? Some of us think so~ We'll just have to wait and see.
Besides that, it seems the guys will actually have a real rival to compete with this year. Yup, another guy squad's coming to town!~~ Celsius...indeed a squad who's performance I'll be looking out for. Although they are newcomers and I doubt they'll even stand a chance at beating the guys of VLC, it should be pretty interesting to see what they can do.
Seeing as competition is only 6 days away now, everyone has been practicing really hard, perfecting routines and putting the finishing touches (whatever you wanna call it). Like I mentioned before, the routine is ready but I guess in my case....I overdid it =P. About a week ago we we're practicing our finisher stunt. It was the end of the practice and everyone was tired. Still, we we're determined to get the stunt right and so...(shall we say...) pushed to our limits. Unfortunately I guess I went into limit break cause the next thing I know I felt a sharp pain in my left wrist! Turned out to be a sprain and so I couldn't base for awhile. Way to halt any progression for me. I'm practically a base through out the entire routine and now it even hurts when I open a water bottle!!! What am I suppose to do?!?! If I gave it my all on the first day and my wrist pays the price...how am I gonna compete on the second day???? Haiz...there really is no choice is there? Oh well, whatever happens will happen. I just hope it's something good.
That trophy really could be out for grabs this year....the way I see it...we deserve it more than anyone does...

The Inflammable Spirits
Every VLC gathered at SY’s mom’s kindie on the morning of the 31st of May with their luggage and stuff (even Denice & Bernice were there but thanks to their parents...were not allowed to go). We then had a short practice before the bus came. Once it did, we said our goodbyes and left for Malacca. The seating arrangements on the bus seemed rather obvious to me…the 4 juniors (Jas, Amirah, Sofia & YC) sat together (2 by 2 of course), JY with LZ, SY with her sis-SL, Kitty with Chee Meow Meow…you get the picture. However, what surprised me was the fact that Jo sat with ZW (okay, so I already knew she was fond of him but to see them sitting there side by side like that…). Let’s just say me and WY (who I ended up sitting with thanks to Jo) are suspecting their relationship as more than just friends.
The journey there turned out pretty crazy for VLC standards on the count of the ‘4 comels’ (KH, Jer, WY & WH). They were saying something about a chain…They can all base, they can all fly, and they can all tumble and jump,…but they can’t dance~ It was so funny ^_^~
Once there, we watched our Cheer 2003 CD before settling in and having lunch. Practice followed until dinner time (which was one heck of a laugh). This was because CC, muffin, YP and I went over to the guys side when they were swimming to see if we could find anything of interest. Little did we know…we sure found it when we saw Kitty (a sight I’m pretty sure I won’t forget for a long time)~ Oh yeah, we were laughing our heads off, that is until without warning…KH grabbed CC from behind and tried to toss her into the pool. She got away eventually so KH tried his luck with muffin who also managed to run, followed by me. Now this was interesting because for some reason, unlike CC or muffin, I didn’t run away when he grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards the pool. Instead, I turned around and clenched the fist of my free hand ready to hit him hard (some reflex huh? =P). I dunno just what he was thinking then and there but he sure let me go and double-teamed with Jer with YP as their target. Safe to say the four of us escaped dry in the end and started plotting our revenge during the props making session before going to bed.
Practice was our first activity of the next day so everyone got up early. After that, we finished our poms and went swimming while the guys ate lunch. Revenge tasted ever sweet as we dragged CW into the pool, followed by all the other guys except WY who was smart enough to lock himself in one of the rooms (I think). KH and Jer however, got in without any help from us. Everyone had lots of fun doing crazy stunts in the water (single base extensions, liberty’s, basket-tosses and even 4-high shoulder-sits). The basket-tosses were especially fun~ I finally got to try X-out, around-the world and even scissors up there. Of course, I’m not the only one who went on a toss, everyone (even Tharma & SL) got a try. The ‘3 Comels’ (seeing as 1 was locked in a room) were going tumbling crazy into the pool. Pictures were taken and everyone had a blast!!!~ We got out a while later and were really tired. Some of us went to sleep while others decided to stick to the schedule and watched ‘bring it on’ at the guys place. We had more practice once the sleepy-heads woke up, had dinner and turned the lights off a little earlier than expected (we were just too tired).
On the next day, surprisingly every girl woke up at least 1 hour late and therefore…practice started late. After practice, it was amazing to see that most of the girls could still master up the strength to swim (the guys joined them on their own free will this time round). I on the other hand was way too tired to swim and decided to finish packing. At lunch time, one by one they got out of the pool and took turns to bathe and eat. Things were going just fine until Jer got a taste of his own stupidity. A lesson learnt the hard way but he turned out okay. The bus arrived at 2pm to take us home (except for Jas who went home with her parents). The journey back was pretty much a blur to me since I was practically asleep the whole time. It was about 5pm when we reached the kindie and my mom picked me up a while later. And so Cheer Camp has ended and I believe it has fulfilled its purpose. Hopefully we can go back next year~
